Collaborâte - 3 tips for working with other creatives - Jacob Leung
Welcome back to the #Collaborâte blog. Today we're with, Jacob Leung (Events director at C3 Church) and founder of Jacob Food.
What are your three tips for working with other creatives?
1. Respect the majority and be on team throughout the whole project!
Be sure to share honest with your creative thoughts as politeness can be the poison of a collaboration. Sometimes it’s tough when you are the minority on a collaborative project or the team disagrees with your ideas. But get over it quickly and remember that this is everyone’s project equally!
2. Create a brief before the collab starts!
Puts everyone on the same page. Briefs save time, money and relationships! Put some direction behind your vision and get onto a brief!
3. Be professional, prepared and have fun throughout the creative process!
Sometimes people get professionally lazy on collaborations (arrive late, not prepared etc) – don’t be that annoying person! I treat collaborations just like any other paid job I get! My final thought is enjoy the experience! One of my favourite quotes is by Andre Gide – “Art is a collaboration between God and the Artist, and the less the artist does the better”.

#Collaborâte is an initiative of C3 College. Our aim is to increase the appreciation of collaboration and community in the creative process because sometimes the genius we need is locked up in the relationships we have.
We’ve seen that a lot in our C3 College creative arts courses, and if you’re considering using your creativity for Godly purposes, we’d recommend you spend some time studying with us.
